🎸 My Bass Story
Music has been part of my life since childhood. I grew up learning Indian classical vocal, explored light music, and sang contemporary and folk songs with local bands. Later, work took over, but the desire to return to music never really left me. My travels and years in the West also introduced me to country music, which became a lasting influence.
In my early 50s, I stumbled upon a video of a middle-aged bass player. That deep, warm, supportive tone immediately drew me in. I thought, “That’s beautiful — maybe I can try this.”
I bought my first bass, a Yamaha TRBX174, and began learning through a few online courses. The basics came, but I lacked direction. Two years later, joining Scott’s Bass Lessons and the Full Stack Bassist Intensive gave my learning the structure and momentum it needed.
Since then, I’ve continued learning from several inspiring educators — Scott Devine, Simon Peter King, Ian Allison, James Eager, Rich Brown, Ryan Madora, Jim Stinnett, and Don Chandler — each contributing something valuable to my journey.
What started as a simple attraction to the sound of the bass has become an ongoing journey of learning, discovery, and fun.
